The Brockhurst Herd of Pedigree Limousin Cattle
The Brockhurst Limousin herd was established in 1988 when Douglas Mash purchased cattle from the Tanhill and Uplands sales. Further animals have been imported from France. The herd is a major part of the family run farm. Farming in Buckinghamshire, a long drive from Carlisle and also with the closing of Banbury Market, we made the decision to build our own on-farm sale ring. To fully benefit we have focused on producing top quality breeding females, with the aim to hold regular on-farm production sales.
The herd has had tremendous success in the show ring, to date having 4 interbreed champions, namely Himalaya, Ronick McAinsi, Reseda and Segala. The herd has also won breed champion at all four major shows; the Royal show with Ronick McAinsi, the Royal Highland with Brockhurst Batik the Royal Welsh twice with Himalaya and Ronick Matador and most recently the Great Yorkshire with Brockhurst Bolshoi (who went on to become reserve interbreed champion). We aim to transfer our show success to our sales by breeding powerful yet feminine females with good temperamants and milking ability to a high health status.
The herd is in a 4 year TB testing parish. We have been testing for Johne's since 2007, all the cows in the herd have passed four negative test. We vaccinate calves for BVD and IBR using Rispoval 4.
Visitors always welcome.
